DALnet Network is an Internet Relay Chat network made up of 33 servers, with a stable population of approximately 8,000 users in about 7,000 channels. DALnet is accessible by connecting with an IRC client to an active DALnet server on ports 6660 through 6669, and 7000. SSL users can connect on port 6697 as well. DALnet is one of the oldest IRC networks, in continuous operation from 1994 through today.
mIRC is an IRC client that can be used to chat with other people on IRC networks around the world. To use mIRC, you need to connect to an IRC network. An IRC network is made up one or more IRC servers that are all connected to each other. By connecting to any of the servers on a particular network, you will see the same channels and people. IRC networks are created, owned, and run by thousands of independent individuals and organizations around the world and there are many hundreds, if not thousands, of such networks.
